ALBIREX SINGAPORE PTE LTD (Headquarters: Singapore, Managing Director & CEO, Daisuke Korenaga), the operation company of Albirex Niigata FC Singapore in the S.League, is establishing a wholly owned subsidiary in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The subsidiary will start to operate a professional football club, Albirex Niigata Phnom Penh FC. The club will participate in the 1st division of Cambodian League “Metfone Cambodian League” from the season 2014.
■Albirex Niigata Phnom Penh FC
Albirex Niigata Phnom Penh FC is a professional football club in Cambodia and newly participating in Metfone Cambodian League from January 2014.
The club aims to contribute to international society and to export Japanese sports business. The team will be made up of primarily Cambodian players and Japanese players subject to the foreign players cap in the league. By offering Japanese quality coaching style in daily training sessions and games, the club will strive to raise the level of Cambodian football. Albirex Niigata Phnom Penh FC will also hope to raise the value of sports in Cambodia by operating a football club in Japanese style and contributing Cambodian society. Through these activities, we will try to be a role model as a leading company in the Japanese sports business. From now on, we will expand sports business into all over Asia and the possibilities of Japanese sports as an export industry.
■Metfone Cambodian League
Metfone Cambodian League was established in 1982 and is the top league of Cambodia Football League. 10 clubs around Phnom Penh have participated in the league for the season 2013. Including Albirex Niigata Phnom Penh FC, 11 clubs will be playing for the season 2014. The league starts in January and ends in July 2014.
■Operation company
ALBIREX SINGAPORE PTE LTD is the operation company of ALBIREX NIIGATA FC SINGAPORE (established in 2004) in S.League. This is the only one Japanese sports club in the world playing in the top league of the foreign country. The club aims to send young Japanese players to the world and about 50 of ex-players are playing as a professional in many countries. The company also established an amateur football club “Fútbol Club Albirex Niigata Baecelona” in Barcelona, Spain in January 2013. This club is aiming to encourage Japanese youth to take an active part thorough football in all over the world and participate in the 4th division of Cataluña League.
■Players Selection in Japan
Players selection for Albirex Niigata FC Singapore and Albirex Niigata Phnom Penh FC will be held in Japan in December 2013.
