I have made the decision to retire at the end of this season. I could not have continued playing professional football for 20 years alone. I would like to thank everyone including my family, teammates and staff, fans, and sponsors. I would also like to thank the eight teams I played for over the past 20 years as a professional football player: FC Tokyo, Kashiwa Reysol, Sanfrecce Hiroshima, Southampton, Urawa Reds, Yokohama F Marinos, Kyoto Sanga F.C., and Albirex Niigata FC Singapore. Looking back on my 20-year career, of course there were frustrating and sad times, but I was always supported by someone and had a truly wonderful football life. I will retire as a professional football player this year, but I would like to continue to be involved in football at the next stage. After retirement, I dream that one day the Japanese national team will win the World Cup. In addition, I would like to pass on the football experience that I have gained to the children.
Although I am announcing my retirement at this time, I was given the opportunity to announce my retirement to the fans at the final league game to be held at home on Saturday, 16th September. I would like to thank Mr. KORENAGA, the chairman of Albirex Niigata FC Singapore, and all the staff members, and I will continue to support this club.
After the league ends, the cup competitions will continue until December, and We would like to show you good game.
Lastly, I would like to express my sincere thanks to all those who have been involved with me. Thank you very much.
